Abstract Text:
Social work researchers have contributed significantly to the improvement of prevention and treatment programs across this country. The purpose of this symposium is to emphasize the diversity of this research by featuring four separate projects and two federal funding sources. Dr. Jerry Flanzer, NIDA, will introduce this session by giving an overview of social work's contribution to this area of research. Drs. Cathleen Lewandowski and Roger Roffman will describe the results from their projects that were funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Drs. Bolland and Hall will describe the results from their projects that were funded by SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). Dr. Peter Delany, SAMHSA, will provide commentary about these projects as the Discussant.
