The Global Social Work SIG is intended for scholars and professionals interested in (a) humanitarian aid and development work overseas, or (b) work in the US with cross-cultural populations, including immigrants and refugees. The purposes of the SIG are to provide networking opportunities for those interested in global issues as viewed through the lens of social work, and to advance the field of Global Social Work as a specialized practice. Global Social Work is transdisciplinary in nature so the SIG welcomes those from allied fields such as public health, medicine, nursing, education, and international development.
