Session: Minority Behavioral Health SIG (Society for Social Work and Research 24th Annual Conference - Reducing Racial and Economic Inequality)

Minority Behavioral Health SIG

Schedule:
Friday, January 17, 2020: 7:00 AM-8:00 AM
Archives, ML 4 (Marriott Marquis Washington DC)
Moderator:
Duy Nguyen, Ph.D., CSWE
Differences in behavioral health persist for members of minoritized racial/ethnic groups. Knowledge gaps remain in social work research, which hinders efforts to influence policy and practice. This SIG seeks to bring together individuals focused on addressing issues in minority behavioral health research to 1) foster networking and mentoring opportunities; 2) collaborate to disseminate research findings, and 3) identify research and funding mechanisms to support career growth. The Minority Behavioral Health special interest group will host an in-person meeting at SSWR, and will communicate through email and web-based meetings on a quarterly basis.
