Libraries have been called “the front lines of social work” by public librarians (American Library Association, 2016), and public library social work is considered “an emerging field” by the National Association of Social Workers (Janis, 2018). Research in this area has remained largely the domain of library science. This SIG seeks to gather scholars and students who are conducting, or who are interested in conducting, research on this rising field of practice.
