This SIG is a collaborative, supportive group of social work researchers, policy advocates, and practitioners with a common aim of enhancing individuals, families, and groups through social work informed research. We have a particular focus on the promotion and advancement of social work grand challenge of closing the health care gap, and will work together to discuss and explore the social determinants of health, health equity, and access. We are particularly interested in research that promotes social justice for diverse groups of vulnerable persons of all ages and stages of illness including children and adults, and to advance research that informs effective organizational and policy advocacy for persons with serious illness.
