Given that an overarching purpose of doctoral education is to nurture the next generation social work researchers, scholars, and educators as the “stewards of the discipline,” this SIG on Doctoral Education will focus on elements and components of doctoral education that contribute to students’ successes as future researchers, scholars, and educators in an increasingly complex educational environment and high-pressure research environments. Discussion will also focus on helpful strategies for doctoral students to successfully navigate the increased expectations on them to perform in an increasingly competitive job market.
