Session: Data Science SIG (Society for Social Work and Research 24th Annual Conference - Reducing Racial and Economic Inequality)

Data Science SIG

Schedule:
Saturday, January 18, 2020: 12:30 PM-1:30 PM
Marquis BR Salon 12, ML 2 (Marriott Marquis Washington DC)
Moderator:
Kevin White, PhD, East Carolina University
The purpose of this group is to discuss topics and methods related to data science (e.g., machine learning, text mining, relational databases, and large datasets). This SIG also provides an opportunity for social workers with an interest in data science to network with other social scientists in the field and to contemplate different ways they could apply data science to their own area of social work. Data science changes so quickly that we exchange information about publication opportunities, conferences, and trainings. Finally, we discuss data science-related presentations offered at SSWR so that those with an interest can attend relevant sessions.
