The SIG promotes involvement in SSWR among Muslims in social work and those of other or no faith who are engaged in practice and research with Muslims. The SIG facilitates exchange of information regarding practice and research with Muslims in the US and abroad. In specific, SIG attendees are strongly encouraged to maintain membership in SSWR and to submit abstracts for the annual conference. Over the last several years, through the SIG meetings, we have been able to also socialize Masters and PhD students and encourage them to pursue research with Muslims, since this is a growing but understudied population in the United States.
