Objectives: The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of economic stress of Veterans after Military Service spouses on depression and to analyze the moderating effect of TSL attitude, a positive family relationship, and the relationship between the two variables.
Method: The survey was conducted for family members of the veterans for about 5 months from February 2019. Out of 200 cases of Veterans families after Military Service, 158 cases for female spouses were finally used. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS 25.0.
Results: First, 67.5% (106) of spouses of the veterans experienced economic stress. 29.9% (46) had depressive symptoms, of which 8.5% (13) had severe depressive symptoms. Second, it was found that the economic stress of the survey subjects had a significant effect on depression. Third, in the influence of spouse's economic stress on depression, TSL attitude between families served as a protective factor.
Conclusions: Based on these findings, it is possible to pay attention to the depression caused by economic stress of the spouses of the veterans after Military Service. It was proposed to prevent depression in the veterans family after Military Service through the provision of national support to reduce the stress caused by the economic burden of military families and family treatment programs such as TSL treatment.
