Our primary activities will be focused on building relationships and a community of Academic mothers in social work solving structural inequality issues within academia. 4 primary aims (to be developed in our first SIG meeting): 1. Scholarship: Organize symposia and panels around this topic, publications, special issue, send out all presentations that highlight Academic mothers at SSWR, maintaining a relationship with JSWE, possibility of a webinar outside of conference 2. Advocacy: within the SSWR board, assist with advocacy around maternal leave time or policy change etc. within institutions 3. Mentoring: mentorship (pairing or breakfast or some kind of event) for junior or incoming Academic mothers 4. Networking: support networking activities at SIG, possible happy hour during conference (to provide multiple touch points of interaction), provide leadership opportunities, support and training for Academic mothers from BIPOC and Latinx communities.
