The Disability SIG has been meeting at SSWR since 2008. When our SIG started meeting, there were only a few presentations each year at SSWR. Members of the SIG worked on promoting SSWR to disability researchers and promoting disability-related research to social work researchers. We successfully grew the disability content within SSWR to the extent that we were eventually allowed to have our own Disability Cluster at SSWR. There now are regularly 50 or more disability-related abstracts submitted each year and a growing body of disability researchers. We use our SIG meeting for researchers interested in disability related research to meet each other, share our research topic and interests with each other, share resources, and collaborate on projects and proposals. The SIG has presented many workshops and roundtables at SSWR and SIG members have organized many symposia. We think we are a great SSWR SIG success story!
