Wage Equity for Social Workers and the Nonprofit Human Services Sector

Non-profit human services workers are critical to building and maintaining the human, social, and institutional strengths of communities. Yet, human services wages are systematically lower compared with other sectors and industries. The SSWR current events session will report on a recent collaborative effort between human services advocates, the City of Seattle, and the University of Washington that resulted in publicly funded wage increases for local nonprofit workers.

Participants: Moderator: David Pate, University of Wisconsin and SSWR Social Policy Committee Chair Speaker: Janice Deguchi, Neighborhood House, Seattle, WA Speaker: Jennie Romich, University of Washington
