This initiative explores how climate change is reshaping the economic and non economic impact of Indian Ocean island nations through a cross-national assessment of climate-induced losses and damages. Using the Comprehensive Climate Impact Quantification (C-CIQ) Toolkit, the project aims to: (1) assess both economic and non-economic climate-related losses; (2) generate country-specific yet comparable insights through a standardized, flexible methodology; and (3) inform evidence-based national and regional policies to enhance resilience and sustainable development.

Collaborating with research teams from six island nations, the project integrates fieldwork, capacity-building, and policy engagement to produce grounded yet regionally coherent reports. This flash talk will present early findings on climate-induced losses in the six nations and highlight the vital role social work can play in reducing vulnerability, enhancing connectivity, and fostering resilience across climate-affected communities.
