Since the start of the pandemic, anti-Asian racism gained an increased focus in mainstream media and social media during a horrific rise in anti-Asian violence. Because of the traumatic history of ethnoviolence and racism that Asian Americans have experienced since before the nation’s founding and now, social workers are obligated to break such intergenerational cycles of oppression. This SIG will bring together social workers who wish to utilize research as a way of promoting Asian American mental health, to bridge social work research and practice, and to brainstorm future pathways as social workers.
